Educational Objectives

  • Practical

    Competence in workstation use to manipulate any vendor axial data set to generate a confident report.


  • Theoretical & Clinical

    Thorough understanding of role of CTCA and it’s appropriate use, it’s sensitivity, specificity and negative predictive value. Recognition of radiation dose issues , artifacts and other limitations and benefits of CTCA.


  • Recognition

    Attendees will achieve maximal allowable cases (125 of 150 required) for ANZ Level A accreditation and full case load (150) for SCCT Level 2 accreditation. RANZCR CME points for this course will be announced at later date.

Saturday 2 July 2011 8:00 – 9:00 am Lecture (1h)

Introduction to Cardiac CT including Radiation & Physics
    9:00 – 10:00 am Interactive session - How to drive the workstation (1h)
    10:00 – 12:30 pm  Interactive session with mentored cases (2.5h/10 cases)
    12:30 – 1:30 pm Lunch and lecture (1h)

Current Clinical Status of CTCA
    1:30 – 5:30 pm Interactive sessions and mentored cases including coffee (3.5 hrs/ 10cases)
    5:30 pm onwards Free workstation time/Taped “live” cases

Data Acquisition, Patient Preparation, Tips & Tricks
    9:00 – 12:30 pm Interactive sessions and mentored cases (3.5 h/10 cases)
    12:30 – 1:30 pm Lunch and lecture (1 hr)

CT Calcium Scoring & Interpretation
    1:30 – 5:30 pm Interactive sessions and mentored cases including coffee (3.5 hrs/ 10 cases)
    5:30 pm onwards Free workstation time/Taped “live” cases

Anomalous Coronaries, Non-Coronary Cardiac Findings, CT in the EP Lab
    8:30 – 12:30 pm Live cases with discussion and case review (4h/8 cases)
    12:30 – 1:30 pm Lunch and Lecture (1 hr)

Cardiac CT Compared to other modalities
    1:30 – 6:30 pm Interactive sessions and mentored cases (5h/20 cases)
    6:30 pm onwards Free workstation time/Taped “live” cases

Cardiac CT & Myocardium including Perfusion
    8:30 – 12:30 pm Live case demonstration, discussion and case review (4h/9 cases)
    12:30 – 1:30 pm Lunch and lecture (1 h)

CT in Acute Chest Pain
    1:30 – 5:30 pm
 Interactive sessions and mentored cases (4 h/20 cases)
    7:00 pm onwards Course dinner – Aria Restaurant, Sydney
